Spaghetti on the Wall

Let Today Blow Away

The heaviest part of Bullet Journaling for me is Migrating. At the end of today, go through the unfinished items, intentionally migrate the ones that are important, and cross off the rest.

Sounds simple, but half the time I end up with this accumulating snowball of a list and I try to be intentional but I don't feel like I can let go of any of them, and then migrating it over and over again just builds a feeling of resentment. I think "migration" speaks too much to the part of me that wants to pack rat. I intuitively connect "migration" to "total capture". But I've got it wrong, I'm all mixed up.

Today is the bullet journal's embodiment of This Moment, and trying to capture it is like trying to halt a stream. Trying to practice Total Capture at the Daily level is like trying to capture every thought during a mindfulness meditation.

Today is my place to be Present in the flow of This Moment.
Eternity is my place to practice holding on to what's Important.

To my anxious, total capture self, I know this makes you squirm, but hear me out. Even if you don't go through that unfinished list, the Important will come back to you, and you can write them down at a longer timescale. You can trust your mind and your spirit to resurface the Important. When they come back to you, you'll be in more of a long timescale state of mind anyways, and you'll be better able to think about them. Right now you are lost in the tiny minutiae of today, and you cannot tell the gold from the dust. Relax, let go, let things settle on their own. It's okay.

Let today blow away.
Tomorrow is another day.
Eternity still is, and will ever be,
On its way.
